Ⅰ. Greetings and Leading in
Yesterday, there was a rainstorm. Where were they when the
rainstorm came? Here are some reports. For example:
A: Where were you when the rainstorm came?
B: I was in the library.
A: What were you doing there?
B: I was reading.
Ⅱ. New words
Show some pictures about the new words to the students and ask them to repeat. Then ask Ss to read these new words together.
Ⅲ. Pre-task
1 1a Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements with the people in the picture.
1. _____ I was in the library.
2. _____ I was in my house.
3._____ I was on the street.
4._____ I was at the bus stop.
First ask the Ss to read these sentences. Later, let Ss finish 1a by themselves. Then ask some Ss to present their answers.
2 1b What were they doing when the rainstorm came? Let’s listen. Pay attention to “was/were +doing”
Play the tape to the Ss. Then present the answers.
3 1c Focus on the conversation in 1c. Ask Ss to practice the conversation with their partner. Ask some pairs to act it out.
