Step 1 Lead-in
在英语教学中,复习导入法以新旧知识的内在联系为纽带,在这个过程中,这种联旧引新的自然导入新课的方法,能激发学生的学习兴趣,也培养了学生运用英语思维的能力。
  • Lead-in
  • Greeting
  • Review
  • Talk about the theme “Life is full of the unexpected.”
  • Ask: What happened to the man or the girl?
  • The teacher asks questions to help Ss organize their languages. Help them to review the words and expressions.
  • T can lead students to say the words or phrases on PPT P4, P5 and P6 through the pictures.
  • Answers:
  • rained,hadn’t taken an umbrella;
  • had lost her wallet,the girl came back;
  • By the time,got to the station,had left.
  • Finally,teacher made a conclusion “Life is full of the unexpected, so we should love and cherish each day.”
Step 2 Writing&Presentation  
在小组合作写作过程中,有的组长组织组员针对主题叙述自己的看法、提供万能句或优秀的句子,组长再用这些语句构成一篇完整的文章作为展示。而有的组长采用的是每个组员说一个句子,上下衔接构成一篇完整的文章作为展示。
  • Pre-writing

  • Ask students to complete the chart of 3a by answering the questions.
  • ① Get the students to read the questions in 3a and write the answers to these questions.
  • ② Ask and answer these questions orally. And make a short passage to tell about a person or an event and report to the class.
  • While-writing

  • Ask each student to write a passage about his / her lucky day or unlucky day.
  • First, the teacher can tell students the structure of writing a narrative. Then, the teacher can tell students the five elements of narratives. Next, the teacher can let each student to write their own passage.
  • Optional Choice
  • The teacher can also let students to work in groups of four and ask each group to write a passage. In the process of group cooperative writing, some group leaders organize team members to describe their views on the theme, provide universal sentences or excellent sentences, and then use these sentences to form a complete article as a demonstration.
  • Post-writing
  • Exercise 1
  • Ask students to complete the passage using the word in the box.

  • 7.unexpected  8.canceled.
  • Exercise 2
  • There are many ways that the sentences can be written for this activity. Get students to pair up and ask them to come up with five possible answers for each one. Challenge students to think about different scenario and not just change a word or two in all their five sentences.

  • my baby brother started crying and I had to look after him as my mother was sick
  • my sister had already gone into the bathroom and the bus was honking for me to hurry up
  • the school bus had already left

  • Exercises
  • Ask students to do the exercises on PPT P19.
  • Summary
  • The T can encourage Ss to summarize the key points of this class to help Ss consolidate the knowledge.
  • Homework
  • Remember the words, expressions and sentences in this unit.
  • Preview Unit 13 Section A (1a-1c).
Teaching Reflection
  • This is the last period of the unit. Students will use what they have learned to write about their lucky or unlucky day. And we will do a lot of work to practice words and expressions.We will practice these words and phrases when writing a passage. Some written work may be done after class.
