  • Before-reading
Show a pic of Sun Wukong and get Ss to discuss the topic about the text.
  • Do you know him? Which book do you think the reading passage is about?
  • Who is the Monkey King?
  • What is he like? What adjectives will you use to describe him?
  • What do you know about Journey to the west?
T present the words magic stick, Western on the Bb.
2.While-reading
Ask Ss to read 3a and summarize each paragraph.
P1: what happened in November 1979?
P2: Read the second par. and complete the chart.
P3: Why are children interested in reading the Monkey King?
  • Post-reading
Get Ss to Complete the sentences below with phrases from the passage.
Play the tape and ask Ss to read after it. If possible, ask some Ss to act it out.
  • Ask Ss to read the sentences and tell what the story is. The teacher present the word Cinderella.
  • Ask Students to read the title of 4b and know the meaning. After that, get them finish the exercise.
The T present the useful vocabulary and phrases.
  • Ask some students to tell the  story using the information on the Bb.
