【Free talk】
Use sentence pattern “Could you please…” to make polite requests or ask for permission.

1. make ＆ do 的区别
make强调动作的结果，其宾语一般是产品或成果；do是指做事，其宾语一般是某个任务或工作。如：
make the bed 整理床铺 make breakfast 做早餐 make a mistake 犯错
do the dishes 洗餐具 do the chores处理琐事，干家务 do the laundry 洗衣服
do a survey 做调查 do Chinese kung fu 练中国功夫 do some reading 看书
do some housework干家务 do one’s homework做家庭作业
2. Could you please clean your room?
Could you please…? 请求别人做某事
这是could的一般疑问句，并非询问对方有无能力，而是向对方提出请求，有礼貌地请求允许干某事, 意思是“请你……,好吗?”。could是can的过去式，但在本句型中并不表示时间上的区别，而只有语气上的不同。could没有can那么肯定，而是较为委婉，使这种请求听起来显得更加客气，更含有尊敬的意味。如：
Could you please take out the rubbish? 能请你倒掉垃圾吗？
肯定回答: Yes, I can. / Yes, sure. / Sure, I’d love to.
否定回答: No, I can’t. / Sorry, I can’t.
注意: (1) 在进行实际回答中，要注意人称的对应。
(2) 这里Could是一种委婉、客气的礼貌用语，作肯定否定回答时，要用can, can’t来代替。
