【语法提要】
1.thankful
thankful通常在句中作表语,常用于以下结构:
(1)be thankful to sb. 表示“对某人心存感激”。
例句:You should be thankful to him for it.为此你应该感激他。
(2)be thankful for sth. 表示“对某事表示感谢”。
例句:I was so thankful for his support.我对他的支持非常感谢。
(3)be thankful +that从句,表示“因……而感激/欣慰”。
例句:I was thankful that my son had won the scholarship at the first year of the university.令我感到欣慰的是我儿子在大学第一年就获得了奖学金。
2.ahead of
ahead of意为“在……前面”,其用法如下:
示例句:He left one day ahead of me.他比我早走一天。
(2)表示能力、水平、地位或先进性等方面,意为“比……强/高”,主要用作表语。
例句:He's ahead of us in English.他的英语比我们强。
