【语法提要】
1.active
active作形容词，意为“活泼的；积极的”，可作表语和定语。常用短语：take an active part in意为“积极参加”。active的名词形式是activity，意为“活动”。如：
We all take an active part in the sports meeting.我们都积极参加运动会。
Although he is over 80,he is still very active.他虽然年过80，但还是很活跃。
2.look up to
look up to意为“抬头看（某人或某物）； 尊重(敬仰)”。如：
He is looked up to by everybody there.他在那里受到众人的尊敬。
3.It is believed that…
It is believed that…相当于People believe that…，意为“人们认为……；人们相信……”。其中it为形式主语，真正的主语是that引导的从句。类似的句型还有：It is said that…“据说……”；It is reported that…“据报道……”；It’s known
that…“众所周知……”；It is supposed/thought that…“人们认为……”等。如：
It is said that they have won the game.据说他们赢得了那场比赛。
It is supposed that at least 200 people should attend the meeting.据估计，至少有200人参加会议。
